DECEMBER BOOKS 2023

That's it for 2023.

I’ve honestly enjoyed all the books I read in 2023 but the ones that really made me laugh out loud were the Per Wahloo and Maj Sjowall crime procedurals.  The books that were the most intriguing were actually the ‘dry’ narratology and philosophy books – probably because I rarely think!  I think I preferred reading them to any of the fiction. I’ll still be reading far too many books into 2024, God willing, but maybe not such a variety.  I really recommend getting lost in a book and the influences behind a writer/musician/artist/criminal – not because they are fascinating or special but because it reminds us of what it means to be human in this world.  Books make you less afraid – because ANYTHING can happen in a book and you still come out of it.  Although sometimes, like Alice, very different to how you went in.
